I became a therapist because I believe that all human beings deserve to be witnessed, heard and empowered to grow and change as they see fit. Life is messy. Relationships can be messy. My own experience in therapy allowed me to see how my history connects to some of the patterned behavior (both helpful and harmful) I endorsed in my day to day life, and it allowed me to reconnect with my own resilience and power to shift the patterns that were no longer working for me. I felt seen and empowered, with a new found compassion where I once felt shame, and some degree of clarity around how I want to show up in relation to myself, others and the world. Therapy is not a quick fix, not does it solve all of one’s problems. However, I believe whole heartedly in the capacity of human beings to harness their own strength when given a safe opportunity to do so.

When a client enters my office, I strive to provide a warm setting in which they can begin to see themselves, their relationships and their environment clearly, allowing the change process to be negotiated with insight and courage. Often times, people turn to therapy when they are feeling lost, overwhelmed, shaken,  and/or paralyzed.  One might feel frustrated and helpless because they can see and feel the same emotional, relational and behavioral patterns unfolding in their life but lack an understanding of why, and what they have the power to change. When we adopt a better understanding of (and compassion for) why we might be repeating unhelpful patterns of coping, we are better equipped to choose new patterns that do not create the same, familiar pain and hardship.
